In the wireless business, many of our customers rely on Ethernet, Cable or DSL for connectivity. While these connections provide good uptime, downtime is still a reality.
According to a recent study, average uptime for wireline internet connection ranges from 98.7% to 99.1% availability. This means that service is UNAVAILABLE between 0.9% to 1.3% of the time. This might seem “pretty good”, however, 0.9% translates to one and a half hours per week.
When this happens, the customer’s ability to transact business and send information is suspended until service is restored. Some merchants have implemented “store and forward” approaches but this can be fraught with both security and financial risks, not to mention the potential damage to the company’s brand and reputation.

With the MTREX LTE Failover or Back-up Solution, internet outages are automatically and seamlessly bypassed using our LTE Router and MTREX Stand-by data plans.
Here’s how it works:
- The LTE router works with existing on-site networking gear and provides a complete primary connectivity solution including Wi-Fi.
- The LTE router continuously monitors the primary internet connection, and when it fails, the device will bring up a high-speed cellular data connection over our LTE network.
- Internet connectivity will be restored allowing for data and transactions to be processed
- The LTE router will monitor the status of the main internet connection and will seamlessly switch back once the service is fully and reliably restored.
